This is Part 2 of the ‘Banking crises and legislation’ podcast with UK financial historian Prof Ranald Michie and legal expert Dr Folarin Akinbami. Both researchers are part of ‘Financial Crisis in the Banking Sector: Present and Past’, that looks at recent historical banking crises in the UK. In this part of the podcast, Folarin and Ranald talk about why London became a global centre for investment banking and other financial services. They also address the political issue of government intervention and regulation of the banking system.
